Avon Dassett 2025
This is our second ever time attending Avon Dassett, but the first time in our new kart (Aerostream Mk2). I always look forward to attending this race as it is one of the fastest race we compete in for the year and it is definitely not a track for the faint hearted. With one S-bend and a sweeping right hander it is not the most technical track of the year. However, going through the S-bend you are at roughly 35mph increasing to roughly 40mph as you exit the S-bend it sure does test your confidence!
One big factor that sets Avon Dassett apart from all the other races is the head to head racing format they use. How the day runs is you get one practice run which is a solo run and not timed, you then get a timed run again solo, but this is used to form the seeding for the head to head races. They format the seeding so that the quickest goes against the slowest then the 2nd quickest against the 2nd slowest etc. This means the further through the seeding runs you get the closer the races are, which makes for some really close photo finishes by the end of the day!
My first timed run put me in P7 / 22 which I was very happy with to start the day. After this I then won my first seeding putting me through to the second seeding which I then unfortunately lost by 0.3 seconds.
Overall, very pleased with the progress throughout the day and how the new kart is feeling.
